• Whenever you start-give it your best. The opportunities are there to be anything you want to be. But wanting to be someone isn’t enough. You’ve got to study for it, work for it, fight for it with all your heart and soul, because nobody is going to hand it to you. –General Colin Powell

  • I’ve read that I flew up the hills and mountains of France. But you don’t fly up a hill. You struggle slowly and painfully up a hill, and maybe, if you work very hard, you get to the top ahead of everybody else. –Lance Armstrong

Work is the foundation of all business, the source of all prosperity,
And the parent of Genius.
Work can do more to advance a youth than his own parents,
            Be they ever so wealthy.
It is represented in the humblest savings and has laid the
            Foundation for every fortune.
It is the salt that gives life its savor, but it must be loved before it
Can bestow its greatest blessing and achieve its greatest ends.
When loved, work makes life sweet, purposeful, and fruitful. –Author Unknown

  • Success is the intersection where dreams and hard work meet. –

  • Whatever you do don’t do it halfway. –Bob Beamon

How do you see it?
Two stone cutters were asked what they were doing.
The first one said, “I’m cutting this stone into blocks.”
The second replied, “I’m on the team that’s building a cathedral.”

  • “Every morning in Africa, a Gazelle wakes up. It knows it must run faster than the fastest lion or it will be killed. Every morning a Lion wakes up. It knows it must outrun the slowest Gazelle or it will starve to death. It doesn’t matter whether you are a Lion or a Gazelle… when the sun comes up, you’d better be running.”

  • Whatever you do, do it passionately. Failure is an event, not a person. Every obstacle presents an opportunity… if you’re looking for it. Relax! You only fail when you quit.”

  • Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education alone will not; the world is full with educated failures. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent. –Calvin Coolidge

  • Passion makes every detail important- G.K Chesterton

  • The way to get started is to quit talking and begin doing. –Walt Disney

  • Persistence is a lifestyle that says “I’m not giving up.”

Here’s somebody who didn’t quit. Abraham Lincoln probably could have quit or chose the easier path several times in his famed career. Consider the List of side trips on the road to the White House:

 1831- Failed Business

1832- Defeated for the Legislature

1833- Second failure in business

1836- Suffered nervous breakdowns

1838- Defeated for the speaker of the House

1840- Defeated for the Elector

1843- Defeated for Congress

1848- Defeated for Senate

1856- Defeated for Vice-President

1858- Defeated for Senate

1860- Elected Pres. of the US

“The path is worn and slippery. My foot slipped from under me, knocking the other out of the way,” Lincoln said, after losing a senate race. “But I recovered and said to myself, ‘it’s a slip and not a fall.”

The adversity (or struggle) is what gave Abraham Lincoln the character to lead the US to victory during its most difficult time. Lincoln stated, “I am slow walker, but I never walk back.”

“Dream Big” Author unknown
If there were ever a time to dare,
To make a difference
To embark on something worth doing
It is now.
Not for any grand cause, necessarily –
But for something that tugs at your heart,
Something that is worth your aspiration,
Something that is your dream.
You owe it to yourself to make your days count.
Have fun.
Dig deep.
Dream big.
Know, though, that things worth doing seldom come easy,
There will be good days.
And there will be bad days.
There will be times when you want to turn around,
pack it up, and call it quits.
Those times tell you that you are pushing yourself,
That you are not afraid to learn by trying.
Because with an idea,
Determination and the right tools,
You can do great things.
Let your instincts,
Your intellect
And your heart guide you.
Believe in the incredible power of the human mind
Of doing something that makes a difference
Of working hard.
Of laughing and hoping.
Of lazy afternoons.
Of lasting friends.
Of all the things that will cross your path this year.
The start of something new brings the hope of something great.
Anything is possible.
There is only one you.
And you will pass this way but once.
Do it right.
